the house and bed were moving!!!! i sat up...WOKE MATT UP! (that boy will sleep through anything!) and we rode it out! seemed like an eternity....im sure it wasnt!
i was like "what was that? an earthquake? (they keep saying the new madrid fault is brewing a BIG one) is our house about to explode d/t a gas line break?" so i am freaked....matt's like "well, it stopped. and the pictures are still on the wall".....
so i get up to "investigate" and find out what it was! what do i think i would find? not really sure....i opened the front door to expect to find all the neighbors in the middle of the street.....nothing. hhuuummmmm. were we the only ones who felt it? maybe the house IS going to explode!
i know, i will turn the tv on and see what they say.....nothing. check the internet...nothing.
matt comes out to the living room and asks if i find anything...no. but where are our cats?
so we spend the next SEVERAL minute looking for our very-freaked-out-like-their-mother three cats...and find two of them under our master bedroom bed, and the other under our spare bedroom bed.
now i am WIDE awake...cant sleep. and my dear husband says "i wonder if there will be after shocks? you know, the after shocks can be worse than the actual earthquake!?"
thanks matt, you really want me to keep you awake dont you!
its 5 oclock...hey, the local news is on....let me go turn the tv back on.
thank you jennifer blome and art holliday for letting me know that what woke me up WAS an earthquake, not my imagination and NOT MY HOUSE ABOUT TO EXPLODE! they said it measured a 5.2 and was centered close to the IL/IN boarder. about 100 miles east from my home!
now to try to go back to sleep.

5.2 is NOTHING to laugh over. That is a serious quake! Glad the kitty's were all safe too. They can sense that stuff big time.
I will never forget that day, as that is the day Doug and I officially got married. Now something Doug and I can tell our kids when they are older.
