matt and jenn: lake of the ozarks

matt and i went down to the lake of the ozarks this past thrus night-sunday afternoon to get away, just the two of us, and celebrate our two year anniversary (9/16). we had so much fun! and im about to tell you ALL about it!

first we want to thank our friend stan, and his wife pam, for letting us use their LAKE FRONT, two story, 3 bedroom, 3 bath CONDO! talk about a SSSAAAAWWWEEETTTT pad! we were definitely living the high life for a few days!:-)

and right there, the view of the boat dock, where stan and pam park their "boat"....which i am SURE costs about 3x what my house costs!

the lake is about a 3-4 hour drive from our house, we left thurs night after matt got home from his night class. got to the condo at about 1:30 ish, it was dark and rainy...and we were looking for condo #327...well, building #3 had no siding on it and NO condo numbers up! (apparently they thought it was a good weekend to reside the building! the NERVE!)

ummmm, hello!!!!!, how are we going to find our condo?!?!?! stans directions said that the condo was "at the bottom of the stairs"...well, there are FOUR down there! so, we went to the next building to see how the condos were numbered...421, 422, 423, 424 on the bottom... ok, but we are looking for #327! well, maybe stans "7" is a "1", lets try #321....and quietly! so if its not stans, the owners wont think someone is breaking in...NOPE! key didnt work.

ok, well, on to another plan, stan had us park in spot #322, so lets try condo #322....BINGO! but that was NO #322 written by stan on our directions! oh, well...we in! and then stayed up and watched tv until about 3 AM....

THEN, bright and early friday morning, AT 8AM, mr construction worker decided to start hammering stuff on the building, to get ready to reside it...RIGHT around our bedroom window!!! THANK YOU!

it actually ended up working out good. we got up, got ready and went to dennys for brunch. while there, i picked up a lake of the ozarks 2008 vacation and service guide and we paged through it looking for things to do. because although we were at the lake and it was bike fest, we had no boat or motorcycle!

we decided our first stop would be the swinging bridge. it is a wood-planked suspension bridge that crosses a creek. it was built in 1929 by union electric....heres a few pics....

and yes, ~~brave souls~~ people DO DRIVE over this bridge, we watched a pick up truck do it...
