~friday night we went out for my BFF birthday! a rather large group of us met for dinner (mexican, YUM) and then out for drinks (me=water with lemon!)....we were out till 130 AM!!!, boy, we havent done that in a while! and that used to be our norm....i guess when you are drinking water, 130AM doesnt sound as fun! lol.... (pictures to follow as soon as i get the uploaded)
~ saturday, we got up at 630AM (yeah, now 130AM wasnt sounding so fun either! what were we thinking!!!) to be at our child birth class at 8AM!
now, yes, i know, i am a mother-baby nurse, so i have the basics down. but i also am a FIRST time mom, never been in labor, and this is the first go around for matt too...so i thought the classes would be helpful. and they were! yes, i knew a lot already, but it didnt hurt to hear it again, and besides, it will be a WHOLE NEW WORLD being on the other side of it all....being the PATIENT and not the NURSE! we learned to breathe (hope we remember this when the time comes! in many weeks from now), saw a few videos of births (matt was shocked that the baby came out "looking like that"), and got a tour of the labor and delivery unit and the mother-baby unit! which was cool to me since i am not delivering at my hospital, i am delivering our sister hospital (i am a private person, and want to avoid co-workers all up in my "business"...if you know what i mean!).
when we came home, matt got some stuff done around the house (aka, cut the
~sunday we got up and went to church...which was nice since we dont get to go as much as we would like d/t our work schedules. matt worked sunday night...i did some cleaning around the house,
oh, and that evening nap too! (dang couch gets me every time!)
~monday, i had a dr appt. i am 24+ weeks now! i accidentally saw the numbers on the scale (i purposely dont look) and that bummed me out, yes, i know i am supposed to gain weight, but its still hard to get used to. you know, you spend all your life watching your weight, eating right, trying to exercise, and now...you have no control...and just keep watching the numbers rise. i think thats been the hardest part of being preggo for me (besides actually GETTING preggo) thats why its best for me to just. not. look!
anyway, the baby was kicking and flipping, and the heart rate was in the 140's. my dr answered our few questions, and we were done. i get to do my glucose tolerance text next time...fun!
after our appt, we ran a few short errands, then went to babys r u and REGISTERED!
that was my whole goal this weekend! to get that done!
boy was it overwhelming@ i had looked online at some things (crib, bedding, car seat, stroller, etc) and written down a few of my top choices...but hadnt made any decisions...so not only did we really have no clue what to register for, we also had to choose what brand, color, bla bla bla, and had to keep it all gender neutral! then the other problem we ran into, things being discontinued! aggggg!
we finally decided on a car seat and stroller, sold separately, but they match and are like a "travel system". then we find out that the stroller has been discontinued! boo! we went with the graco snug ride 32. there were 2 other pattern options, one we didnt like at all, and the other came in a close #2 to our top choice. we decided we are going to take our chances and hope that someone, somewhere will find the stroller in our top pattern choice! or i guess our stroller and car seat just wont match!
and the bedding that i decided i think i liked (i had it narrowed down to 6!) was also discontinued! there was a piece here and a piece there, on clearance, but still there....so i will keep my fingers crossed on that too. we did register for a second bedding set (matts top choice and its my #2), so we do have a plan "b". we spent several hours at babys r us...and we still hadnt even LOOKEd at the cribs. but we were hungry, so we stopped for the day and met some friends for dinner.
~tuesday, we went to target to register. this went ok. definitely not as impressed as with babys r us... at babys r us, they sat us down, put all our info into the computer for us, explained the scanner, gave us a book with a list of things to register for (VERY helpful for us clueless couple), and all the workers were just very friendly and helpful. target, not so much. we walked in and asked to register and the lady points to the register computers and says "go put your information in the computer and then come back and i will give you a scanner"....ok?!?
after we entered our information, we went back to the desk and the lady handed us a scanner and said "ok go scan what you want, then come back and turn the scanner in"....ummm, OK??!
i had to ask how to operate the scanner, they are all basically the same, but to delete things is way different. and of course, their baby section is nothing like the entire store at babys r us, which i understand, i was just disappointed in the overall experience. but its done. and that was our (my!) goal!
then we decided to go to the st louis babys r us! (way bigger than ours closer to home)....to look at their selection of cribs...oh, and to decide on a high chair! (which we had forgotten the day before!).
after my indecisiveness...and matt saying "this crib is good, lets get this one"...
hes about to scan it, and i say "but wait...______"
"lets look at the other ones",
"lets look at the other colors",
"lets look at them all one more time",
"lets look at these other styles",
and then me saying....."are you sure_____"..."
"about this color?",
"this style?",
"this one?"...
and matt acting like he was shooting himself in the head with the scanner!....
yahoo!
oh, and btw, the high chair we liked and decided on....guess what,.... its been discontinued as well! just our luck! haha! oh well, another one can easily be decided on later, its not like we need that in the beginning anyway...right????
after our trip to the big guns babys r us, we went to the gym (and im not telling you the LAST time i was there!)
so! major stuff crossed of my to-do list that i have going on in my head! and i am so excited! although this post (without pictures) is prob. boring to you, i just HAD to get all this down in writing!

- registered at both stores...check

oh, and i asked friends on facebook for pediatrician recommendations, got some, so started looking at pediatricians....
who is recommended, who takes my insurance, where their office is located, and what hospital they go to, i think i have it narrowed down to 3 choices, and will ask around a bit more, then call the offices to be sure the DO take our insurance and are taking new patients!!!!
now i am off to bed....feeling great about the things we got done this weekend!
smiling....and wishing you all a great rest of the week!

I already was thinking I've been a slacker and now your post proves it! I've got to get myself in gear!
You REALLY do need to feel proud of yourself for getting so much accomplished...it's such a good feeling isn't it! Even though your to-do list was time consumming and probably frustrating at times, it was fun and exciting for you both I'm sure. I remember doing the exact same things and loving it. You're in your second trimester which is so enjoyable and when you'll have the most energy. Yay for getting so much done!
The thought of Matt sticking the scanner up to his head is soooo funny. I could just picture it.
You forgot to add that you even posted that moster of a blog.. that takes time too.. check (as I haven't posted since August.. nice!)
JOb well done, you've made a dent.

I am so happy for your big news and the arrival of a new little one in your family. I loved reading and catching up on your blog. I know sometimes when we do Facebook, it seems easier to just make a note on FB, but your blog post was a great "catch up!" Take care Jenn.
