danika continues to sleep in her bedroom in her crib. she goes to bed between 730-830pm and usually sleeps all night until 730ish....although a few times a week, she still wakes once for a "snack" anywhere between 330-6AM...if this happens, i just bring her to bed with us, and she eats and we both go back to sleep until about 730 or so.... then she usually will take her morning nap around 10 (about 2 hours after she wakes) and sleeps for 30 minutes to 2 hours, and then she takes her afternoon nap around 2. this nap usually is a little longer, she usually sleeps a couple hours...then about half the time, she will take a third short nap around 6pm...she still isnt the best sleeper....she fights falling asleep 99% of the time, and has to be around not a lot of commotion to stay asleep...
we are still breastfeeding! but now, i have to basically go into the bedroom with her and lay down with her in a dim quiet room to breastfeed her or she will pay attention to everything else BUT me! shes like OH LOOK, A CAT! OH LOOK, MY BIG SISTER! OH LOOK, THE TV! OH WAIT....I THINK I HEARD SOMETHING! she still eats for 6 minutes a side but now, usually does both sides at a feeding. she went on a nursing strike for a few days a couple weeks ago....i think it was a combination of a sore hurting mouth d/t teething, and she had a stuffy runny nose which makes it hard to breathe and eat at the same time...which is what you have to do while breast feeding! also, around that same time, she started nipping me (YOWERZS!) a lactation consultant friend of mine told me to tell her sternly "NO" when she does that and she will learn quickly not to do it...so the next time she nipped me, i very sternly and firmly looked at her and said "NO!"...she looked at me, got all sad and started BAWLING! i felt so bad that i hurt her little feelings. but you know what, she hasnt bit me since! she eats her food pretty well too...again, there cant be too many distractions! this girl watches everything! and is very easily distracted! (she gets that from HER DAD!) some of the new foods she has has are peas (i dont think she is a fan), plums, puffs, and she fed her self chicken (LOVED IT!) grilled cheese (LOVE THIS TOO), and broccoli. her favorites still are yogurt (she eats an entire cup while bouncing up and down!) bananas, apple sauce, strawberries, and banana oatmeal mixed the breast milk.
she is in size 3 diapers, and size 6-9 and 9 month clothes. we have her 9 month check up at the end of the week, so will know her updated stats then!
she is SO TICKLISH! her entire body is! i love tickling her! but im sure it will drive her insane when she gets older!
this month we started having a few people other than family baby sit for us. one of my co-workers, a lady from church, my long time friends sister and her daughter...of course its all been fine, but it totally stresses me out! my long time friends niece is 17 and live a few streets from us, i think we may start using her on a regular basis. its just easier on the girls for them to be here and be able to go to bed in their own beds rather than go to sleep at matts parents or sisters, then we have to wake them to drive them the 20 minutes home.
she loves playing peek a boo...i will put the burp cloth over her head, and she will pull it off and i yell PEEK A BOO! she just turns into a giggle bug!
she says a few words...."dadadadadadada" is what she says all the time....there has been a few "mamamama" as well....but her word of choice (right now) is "dadadada" or just a bunch of squeeks and yells. we think she likes hearing herself make noise!
on may 4 she started to sit and reach really far for things...she will lean on her hands (but stay on her tush) and rock...it wont be long before she is crawling i am sure!
she will "dance"....it is so cute, she bobs up and down to music!
she still only has her two bottom teeth
she is still totally a mamas girl! i cant leave her sight. we were over at matts sisters house with the entire family on 4/8 and i walked out of the room...she started crying "mamamama" as plain as day! everyone heard it!
her favorite place to be is in someones arms!
on 4/20 she clapped her tiny chubby hands!
on 4/17...she started waving! and she does it both ways...the full arm extended wave and the opening and closing of the hand wave!
she makes this cute ''fussy face" (finley did it too) where she crinkles up her nose and then breathes really fast through it...and she will mock you if you do it to her! she will also mock me if i grunt at her! this is how we sit around and have fun! making fussy face and grunting!
finley always calls danika "baby"....but on 5/3, we were in the car and danika was fussing...and finley yelled (as plain as day) "danika stop!" it was so cute how she said "danika" and that was the first time she actually said her name!
these two girls adore each other! i love watching them interact with each other! i cant wait for them to be as close as my sister and i are! (at least i hope they are! there is nothing better than a sister! in my opinion)
on 4/29 she was 38 weeks old! she was born at 38 weeks.
weve taken her to show mes for dinner, the bowling alley to see matt and his team bowl on their last night of league, to an easter egg hunt where she was happy with her 1 egg! she held it up in the air and smiled and then waved it up and down! on 4/25 we had a family fun day and spent the day at the zoo and then went up to our little towns local pizzeria, mama gustos for dinner.
sweet baby danika is full of smiles, giggles, and laughter!
she is so sweet!
and is working hard at growing more hair! she has the male baldness pattern going on...more hair along the bottom of her head, not so much on top!
has thigh rolls and a right dimple that makes me want to eat her up!
