matt and jenn: zoo day! july 2014

thursday we went to the zoo for the first time as a party of 5!
its been absolutely beautiful here in st louis this summer... like this week the highs were only in the mid 70s! its usually 110+ in july!
so i really wanted to get out to the zoo and take advantage of this weather!
i talked matt into taking the morning off work and off we went!

the girls were very excited to see all the animals!
finley said she wanted to see the giraffes and the fish....danika wanted to see the horses and cows! (ha...then we had a discussion about how horses and cows were on a farm, not at the zoo!)

our first stop was the insect house, just because it leads to the butterfly house, which is really where I wanted to go! finley kept putting her finger out trying to get one to land on her...but they just kept flying by..she thought that was funny!

then we went to the rivers edge and saw birds, rhinoceros, ant eaters, painted dogs, sun bears, hippos, FISH, and elephants. we also stopped while back in this part of the zoo and had lunch. (note to self...finley becomes a VERY CRANKY WHINY 4 year old when she is hungry! i was about to cry she was being so difficult...all i wanted was a wonderful day at the zoo and i had a 4 year old that i was wishing would jump into a trash can!....then she ate....and back came my sweet 4 year old finley!)

after the rivers edge, we walked to see the monkeys, danika requested to see the monkeys once she found out the horses and cows werent there! on the way to the monkeys, we saw the tortoises, seals, and prairie dogs.

then we went up the hill to the giraffes! these are my favorites 9and the zebras)

by this time it was 2 oclock...and nap time...

so we headed back towards our car...

along the way, we peeked at the gazelles, wild donkeys, more types of birds and ducks and the seals again
