i love my back yard!

i love relaxing in my pool (which on a sad note, we closed today.
closed pool+ going to last cardinal game of the season tomorrow= summer has officially ended for the toth household),
all the flowers, plants, ornamental grasses, my mom and i have planted over the years (i bought the house from her a few years ago)
the trees....so peaceful!
i have several humming bird feeders up and love watching them and hearing them "chatter" to each other!
i have a finch feeder as well...and have seen some very beautiful birds there!
a bird house...which a critter (i would assume a bird) stuffed full of twigs like he was building a nest...but never came back. i have read that some birds do this when the bird house is too close to their nest...stuff it full of twigs and such to keep another bird from calling it home and invading their already claimed space....so i will move it to another branch or tree and see if i can get a REAL tenant, not just a dummy tenant!
we also have squirrels, bunnies....and this guy, i caught a glimpse of the other day!....

i have always planted flowers, each spring...and usually plant petunias in two pots on the back steps leading from the french doors to my beautiful back yard...this year i didnt plant any petunias, just for something different...where am i going with this? well, imagine my surprise when i saw THIS (can you see it) growing on the OTHER side a tree amongst the tree roots...
a lone purple petunia...beating the odds (matt and the mower, which sadly to say, some of my plants have fallen victim too), growing and flowering!!!!!!
