max turns 1

our nephew, max, had his first birthday last week and we had a small party this past weekend to celebrate. matts family has a traditional "birthday cake" everyone gets for their birthday. its a chocolate cake, made from scratch, with chocolate icing and cherries! yummy! and it must have been silly of me to think max would get the usual sheet cake with some sort of themed cartoon character....no! he gets the famed "birthday cake" too!
here he is not knowing quite what to think as we all gathered around and sang happy birthday to him! crazy adults!


and now....starting to put his fingers into the cherries, and mushing them around...warming up to the cake idea, still not to sure of whats going on...

hes got the idea now! look at that! his hands are FULL of cake and his mouth is open WIDE to stuff it all in! i guess hes decided he likes this birthday cake stuff after all!!!

whats a birthday, without the cake being all over your mouth, face, fingers, hands...

up the forearms, to your elbows! and also on both your ears, in your ears! and in your hair that is on the BACK of your head! that sounds like a good birthday to me!
