this month, i, yet again, will have to put my thinking cap on for the SPT. although, it shouldnt be that difficult....everyone gives "gifts" all the time.
in lelly's words, "wouldn't it be great if we spent this month giving gifts! and before you lovingly remind me of the economic recession, let me add that no money is to be spent on these gifts! let's focus on the gift of service, the gift of a smile, the gift of a repurposed or gently used item, the gift of a kind word. you know, those gifts that would be hard to wrap in a box with a pretty bow. for tuesday, april 7: gift a family member"...
so, heres my story...
yesterday was the st. louis cardinals home opener. and if you are from around here, you would know that that day is treated like a holiday! there are classes that are skipped and work that is left and everyone goes down to the stadium. even if you dont have tickets, its fun. there are pep rallies, music, food, fun...and of course, the return of the "sea of red"....everyone in red cardinals gear!
matt and i always go down, even if we dont have tickets, to partake in the festivities.....and yesterday, we had planned to do just that. i was off work, matt had school until 1030, we were heading down there between noon and 1, the game started at 3. we were meeting a few groups of people...going down to the pep rally, and then the plan was to find a bar close to the stadium and watch the game.....
but mother nature had a different plan...
a cold front came through....the HIGH yesterday was 38 degrees, the wind was whipping around out of the north, and we had S.N.O.W flurries all morning...
i am so not really a cold weather person....give me the sun and a beach any day over a cold snow covered anything! mountain...although, ill take pictures of that all day!
matt came home from school, we were just getting some things done around here, and he suggests..."lets just stay home and watch the game, we can lay on the couch together. its CO.LD out there"...
i high fived him...as much as i REALLY wanted to go down to the pep rally, it WAS cold, snowing, windy, we didnt have tickets, matt had a butt load of home work he really needed to get going on...and we have tickets for wednesday nights game, when the high is going to be 62! did i mention that he suggested we "lay on the couch together"....who would pass up cuddling on the couch with your hunky husband?!?!?!
so....we didnt go.
i feel bad. we missed the fun.
but we layed together, on the couch, warm, cozy, comfy, with each other, even had a few beers from the fridge... didnt spend a dime...had a front row seat for the game that the cardinals ended up losing in the 9th inning with 2 outs and we gave the gift of "quality time with each other"

That's so sweet. Nothing like quality time together!
I think you made a good choice. Much cozier.
how AWESOME!! i can't think of a nicer gift on a freezing cold home opener day.
Oh so sweet! quality time with each other is a great gift!
What a great gift! It was snowing here today as well. What's up with that? I thought it was supposed to be Spring!
I agree: a cuddle on the couch is much better than a cold bleacher under your seat!
and you got to talk to your sister and not have to wait in line for the pottys AND could sit on the seat!! lol
Barbi
Cozy gifts are the best.
