nov 2009...with a bun in the oven....

november preggo story....

i am still cruising along....no issues, no complaints....baby is so GOOD to me!

but now....i have noticed that after i work my 3 12 hour shifts in a row (remember, i am a nurse)...my ankles, esp. my right one, are a bit swollen...but if thats all i have to complain about....

I WILL TAKE IT!

at the beginning of the month, we finally decided on a pediatrician! with lots of suggestions from co-workers and friends, then checking to be sure our insurance covered them, then taking into consideration where the office is located and making sure they have privileges at st louis childrens hospital (a must that was on my list).....we picked a pediatrician that is in practice with 2 other peds. they came from a very well known, very large, practice in another town...these 3 broke away from the huge practice almost 2 years ago to form their new, smaller, more personal practice...which i like! we met with her towards the end of the month...she was very nice, answered (my list) our questions, the staff was helpful, the office was new, bright, and cheery....all in all, we were very pleased! i hope once the baby comes, the good feelings will continue!

nov 10, we had another appointment with dr. p....the baby's hear rate is ticking away at 145...he measured my belly and it is measuring exactly with my dates! i am 27 wks, 4 days! i also had some blood drawn (cbc) and did my 1 hour glucose tolerance test....

and if youve been following me, you all know i failed my 1 hour glucose test and had to go back and do the 3 hour test, which involved not eating for 8 hours before the test, getting blood drawn a total of 4 times....and continuing to not being able to eat for the entire time! so i had nothing to eat for a total of more than 12 hours....hunky hubby was a sport, and went with me to the appointment...and hung out with me at the office (i had to stay there), i did go up to the maternity floor and pre-register for when i come to deliver....after the test, hunky hubby and i went to lunch! i mean, what kind of cruel test makes a pregnant girl not eat for TWELVE HOURS OR MORE?!!?...

i got the news that i PASSED MY 3 HOUR TEST! i was very happy about that!

i have also had this weird numb spot on my right side up by my lower ribs...since about 20 weeks. on and off, not all the time...i usually notice it when i am slouching...and as soon as i sit up, it goes away. i googled this numb spot, and found that it is considered normal. its just nerves stretching...and remember, thats where baby's feet are constantly pushing and kicking.

its funny, baby doesnt like the lap top sitting on top of him/her. i will set the lap top on my belly (yes, i know its not a table)...and soon after the baby starts moving and kicking as if to say, "hey, get this HOT thing off me, im cooking in here", so i will move the lap top off my belly, it just makes me giggle to see such a reaction!

towards the end of november, we also got our first baby shower gift in the mail! how exciting! it was our bedding! sweet! thanks nikki and steve!

for thanksgiving we were able to head south, one last time before the baby, and spend the holiday with my family....stay tuned...thats the next post!
