6 weeks old....

my sweet baby girl is 6 weeks old today!
she gave her dad one of those TO.DIE.FOR.HUGE.GUMMY.GRINS today!

he melted....

we had a great night last night....

for about the past month, weve been camping out in the living room...matt and i have been sleeping on the couch and finley has been sleeping in her bouncy seat right in front of me/the couch. its just been way more convenient (for me) to have her right there for the frequent feeds/fussiness/diaper changes. all i had to do was pick her up, sit up on the couch, and feed her...rather than having to get out of bed, get her, and walk out to the living room every time like i was doing the first few weeks...and matt and i are night owls, neither one of us have M-F 9-5 jobs (i work night shift, he is a bartender)...so late night TV and the olympics have played a role in this sleeping arrangement as well...

but i have really wanted to move the family back to the bedroom and try to go back to some sort of "normal" sleeping arrangement....i mean, i guess we could camp out in the living room for ever????

so i decided after the olympics were over, we would start this transition back to the bedroom. hunky hubby and i sleeping in our bed, and finley sleeping in the pack n play bassinet at the end of the bed (im not ready for her to be in her room in her crib!)

my plan was to start operation sleep-in-the-bedroom on monday....but hubbys busted knee postponed us by a day...

so, last night, i did it. i fed her at about 1045pm....(while we were watching the flying tomato on jay leno) and at about 1130 we all came back here. finley in her bassinet, us in our bed. she fussed for a few minutes, i picked her up, rocked her, and put her back down. i had to do this a few times, and then she was asleep! ok! point 1 for parents! i slept half the night with my head at the foot of the bed...but she actually slept great! she woke at 3, i fed her, and she went right back to sleep...and slept until 7!!!! if you are not keeping up...she at at 11, 3, and 7! i got TWO 3 hour blocks of sleep!!! score another for the parents@!

this is huge for us! i think i have blogged about it, but miss finley is usually really fussy at night...im not talking "evening" night...i am talking from midnight to 2 or 3 am night...only sleeping for 30-60 minutes at a time, fussy, crying...to where i usually end up walking up and down our hallway with her until about 3am...this didnt happen last night@!

i dont know if it was just a fluke (please dont let last night be a fluke...)?, the new sleeping arrangements?, shes 6 weeks old?....who knows...but what ever last night was....

WE ARE PRAYING IT HAPPENS AGAIN TONIGHT, AND THE NIGHT AFTER, AND THE NIGHT AFTER.....:-)

its amazing what a 3 hour block of sleep will do for a tired momma@

~update on hubbys knee....he went to DR today, got x-rays taken (no broken bones, but we didnt think that anyway), dr thinks it will heal on its own. prescribed some anti-inflammatory med, gave him a knee brace that goes from mid thigh to mid calf...and sent him on his way. dr told hunky hubby that if he still cant bear weight on it by friday, to call back and they would schedule a MRI...with the brace on, he can actually walk!...stiff legged, but a walk non the less! he is in much better spirits tonight...i dont think he liked no being mobile....it made him stir crazy! keep your finger crossed that his knee will continue to improve with the meds and brace!
