4 years!

just a warning....this is a loooong post!

sept 16 we celebrated our 4 year anniversary!

i cant believe its been 4 years already!

anyway, each year, we try to follow the anniversary gift list( 3 years, two years) to keep things fun and interesting.
so this year the traditional gift is "fruit/flowers" and the modern gift is "appliances".
what in the world do you get a man that has to do with fruit/flowers/or appliances?!?!?!
i racked my brain...and came up with a brilliant idea!

i bought matt a

LEAF BLOWER/SUCKER/MULCHER do-dad!

(a man's appliance, right?)

we have 3 crab apple trees in our front yard....and they drop their little crab apples all over the yard, drive way, and side walk. this doesnt bother me....but it drives matt NuTs! so he started spraying off the sidewalk and driveway with the hose this summer, which is all fine and dandy until my water bill comes!!!! so my brilliant idea will allow matt to get rid of those pesky crab apples....and not make my water bill rise!!!!

just a cute picture of matt and finley.....

matt was a genius!

for my "appliance", he gave me a new can opener...
he was able to combine "fruit/flowers" and had a fruit bouquet delivered to me~~~

it was YUMMY! and so cool looking! there were strawberries, cantaloupe, grapes, honeydew, and pineapple cut in the shape of a flower and half dipped in chocolate with a melon ball as the center! we were in florida for our anniversary, so he had this delivered to my sisters house....and everyone sure did enjoy it!

i wanted a new cardinals shirt, so he also got me one of those...and some "fruity" candles (black cherry and cranberry mandarin)...and some onsies for finley with "flowers" on them!

staying with the "fruit/flower/appliances" theme, i also gave matt some dried fruit....which he said smelled and tasted like fish food! ha....oh well, i tried!

we have gone somewhere every anniversary(a "haunted" hotel/spa for the weekend, the lake of the ozarks, niagara falls)....i am trying really hard to keep this tradition going, even if down the road its just an overnight somewhere, id really like to be able to just go and celebrate "matt and jenn". since we were already in florida for vacation, this year we drove to amelia island and stayed the night.

we took finley with us. we got up thursday morning (sept 16) and drove the couple hours to amelia island. when we got there, we sat in a mcdonalds parking lot and used their wifi to price line a hotel (weve had very good luck in the past with price line). no, we had no hotel, no agenda....we just went and were "winging it"! we ended up getting an AmAZinG hotel, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE OCEAN for almost half price!

here is our very comfy king size bed(finley looks so tiny laying on it!)
the view of the ocean from our room! that building is "sliders seaside grill" where we ate our anniversary dinner, out on the back patio, ON THE BEACH, with a reggae band playing! it was such a festive atmosphere!
our hotel! our room was on the 3rd floor, the window that is right to the left of the "amelia hotel" sign

when we first got to amelia island, we parked and headed out to the beach! it was very windy!!!

finley didnt like the water at all at first. she would keep her legs and feet folded up under her like a little jeanie or something! it was too cute!

after we found our hotel, and checked in...we changed into our bathing suits and headed to the beach again!
we hung out there for a while...matt trying his best at body surfing and finley and i just hanging out. then we got ready and went to dinner. it was nice and the atmosphere was so fun with the reggae band playing! the ocean breeze wasnt bad either (wink!). after that, we just walked across the street to go back to the hotel, put finley to bed, and chilled out with a few beers and some good old HGTV!

daddy out in the SURF....and finley safe and sound in her chair, on the beach, with mommy! (im not a fan of waves, big or small, so i was happy to hang out with my girl on the beach under the umbrella!)

me and my girl....
at the beach....at dinner.....and shes in her jammies ready for bed!

hunky hubby and his girl....
loving the beach....goofing around in the hotel room...being silly at dinner

the next day (sept 17), after breakfast, we headed back to the beach!

this time finley couldnt get enough of the waves and the water. we would sit right where the waves would come in and she would sit on our laps and just kick her little feet and squeal and smile and laugh! and grab her hat and rip it off her bald head!....she just had a ball!

me and my girl
just the 3 of us...enjoying finleys first time at the beach/ocean
we checked out of the hotel, then headed to amelia islands little down town area. it was so cute, all these little touristy shops...
miss finley thought she was a big girl and thought she would drive us around!

miss finley may have been getting tired of shopping....but we HAD to take pictures with the shrimp statues!!!

we bought a few small trinkets....then headed back to my sisters house.
it was another great anniversary celebration....
this time, just the 3 of us....
in an awesome hotel....

i love you matt, i cant wait to see what God has in store for us!!!!

Your trip sounds just perfect. I'm so glad you guys had a wonderful anniversary.
