its our anniversary!!!!
5 years!!!
weve gone somewhere every year for our anniversary...
our first anniversary, we went a few towns over and stayed in a "haunted" hotel...the original springs hotel... we ate at the local truck stop and had a few drinks at a hole in the wall bar across the street from the hotel! hey, we were in a itty bitty town and nothing was open! we made the best of it and had a great time...and saw no ghosts! i made matt sleep with the hall light on in our room!
our second anniversary, we went to the lake of the ozarks and stayed in a friends condo for the weekend...we did some hiking, and sight seeing...ate at some cool restaurants on the lake and hung out at night at a sweet piano bar
our third anniversary we went to niagra falls! we spent a few days on the american side and a few days in canada! we also flew by the seat of our pants on this trip! we had NO hotel reservations, we just drove up there and then got hotels through priceline! this is so not me! i am a planner...but this is more matts style...and i must say, it was fun! (nerve racking for me...but fun!). we did lots of hiking and sight seeing on this trip too! the falls were way cool! something i have always wanted to see!
last year, #4...we were in florida visiting my family, and had an 8 month old...so we went for the weekend to amelia island, and again had no reservations....just pricelined the hotel when we got there. we ended up staying in a sweet hotel right across the street from the beach! and a super cool restaurant where we had dinner out on the patio...on the beach!
this year...#5! last year i had all these visions of this big trip! just the 2 of us....to some where warm...with sand....and fru fru drinks with umbrellas!!!! ahhhhh.....the dreams!
then, it happened....i got pregnant! dont take this wrong...i am not complaining AT ALL! i love my sweet tiny toth #2....but getting pregnant and having a baby 6 weeks before our anniversary pretty much squashed all my dreams of that warm, sand, fru fru trip! and honestly, it bummed me out!
we cant go away....and leave our 19 month old and our 6 week old babies....
so i have been wracking my brain....what on earth do we do on our anniversary???
i thought about going back to the hotel we stayed in on our wedding night...heres my dreams again!....how romantic? we could go swimming in the pool....get dinner at the restaurant next door...but REALITY CHECK...how fun is a hotel room with your two babies? trying to get 19 month old finley to sleep...and then keeping quiet (ha, tell that to 6 week old danika) so finley STAYS asleep....sounds pretty stressful to me...and maybe a waste of money!
back to square one.....what to do on our anniversary? boy, im bummed we arent going on a trip...
then i saw on fb one of my co-workers warning my other co-workers about the BALLOON GLOW friday night (i work at the hospital right across the street from where the balloon glow is) and all the traffic....

thats it! ive always wanted to go to this!!! but ive always been working....this year, i am not! and dang it....we are going!!!!
