so...the 5 year wedding gifts, according to HALLMARK....are either WOOD or SILVERWARE...
so the gifts i came up with to give to matt were...
a 3 "WOOD" and a 5 "WOOD" golf clubs (i know, im smart arent i?!?!)...and ....this "WOODEN" trunk i found at a consignment shop! i wanted to get more of a hope chest type of trunk, which the shop did have (and it was beautiful) but i have NO way of getting that huge heavy thing home... so i got this trunk! and even though it is a bit "rustic"...i think it has great charm and is perfect! the lady at the shop said its at least 100 years old...the paper someone has put on it is flaking off....but for some reason....i liked it all beat up like that! my thoughts were to buy a trunk matt could put his winter sweatshirts and stuff in, right now there are piled in a corner of our bedroom...and that pile is about as tall as my waist!
matt got me this cute "WOODEN" (wicker) basket, the "WOODEN" "love" plaque...and he is going to build me a big "WOODEN" bookshelf type thing....to be able to put baskets in...and to store all the toys in our living room in those baskets that will go in the shelf! i am excited! he drew me a picture of it and "promised" to build it for me...as soon as he gets done building OUR DECK! that is going around our above ground pool as i type!!!!
we just hung out around the house during the day...making sure finley got good naps in because we went we going to the balloon glow!
first we met matts friend and his family at a mexican restaurant (mi ranchito) for dinner. i had some yummy enchiladas....matt had some yummy mexican stuff...and finley...well, she had CHIPS!!!!!! haha....and learned that if you dip those chips in queso...not only is it good, but its fun too! oh...and we had a pitcher of margaritas for the table as well...mmmmmm!
then we headed down to the balloon glow....the traffic was horrible...but we expected that. by the time we got down there, there was not one single parking space anywhere close to the actual balloon glow or the park...so, since i remembered my work badge, we went and parked at my hospital, in the employee parking, in the garage! (working at barnes does have some perks!). we should have just parked there in the beginning, there was no traffic, easy in, easy out and tons of parking spaces....we will remember that for next year!
by the time we got parked and up to the balloons, it was close to 745...the balloons were AMAZING!
but by 830, they were all done and packed away....so my only negative is that we didnt get to see them long enough....NEXT YEAR!!!
finley was intrigued by them, she kept pointing to them and saying "balloon?"
finley spent most of her time on matts shoulders.....playing with a little flashlight that we actually found in the grass!!! she kept pointing it up to the sky and saying "ooooooohhhhhhh"....
after the balloon glow...there were fireworks!!!! and you all know how much i love fireworks!!!!
just us.....
and
HAPPY!....
HAPPY!....
are you wondering where danika was this entire time???? she was strapped in her front carrier, zipped up into my coat....sleeping! i promise...go back and look at the pictures, shes in there! im not THAT FILLED out!
what a difference 5 years make!
after the fireworks, we went up to my work and saw my friends and showed off the girls! it was fun because they were having a grandma shower for a co-worker...so we got to party a little more! we got home at 11PM! and the girls were GREAT! no melt downs from either one of them!!!
matt and i went to bed by 1230, we both were falling asleep on the couch...it was funny though...he went to bed in our bedroom, and i went to bed with danika, in her room (which was our spare bedroom, it still has the spare bed in it and thats where ive been sleeping with danika...hey, its a step up from the couch which is where we have been for the past month!)...
and as i layed there staring at my VERY AWAKE baby....i giggled...because 5 years ago, i was falling asleep next to my new husband...and now i am falling asleep next to my 6 week old baby, with my husband in the other room!!!
WHAT A DIFFERENCE 5 YEARS MAKES!
i love you matthew adam....and our little family we have built these past 5 years....
cant wait for the next 5+ years!!!!!

Wow that balloon glow was cool! I think you got some really nice pics of the balloons and fireworks! I really liked the family anniversary one too. And of course the one of you two together. You sure can't tell Danika is hiding in your jacket! She looks very comfy and warm! It sounds to me like you both(and girls)had a very nice and unique day! Happy Anniversary again! Love,Mimi
Happy Anniversary to you both!
