half birthday!

danika turned 6 months old last tuesday! i cant believe i now have a 6 month old and a 2 year old!
so.....danikas 6 month post....

to start....we will take a look back over the last 6 months..... starting with her birthday...and then every birth month after....

danika now weighs 14 lbs 6 oz (25th%) and is 26.25 inches long (50%). her head is 16.75 inches (50%). she is in size 2 diapers and mostly 6 month clothes (a few 3-6 month sleepers still, but shes stretching them with her toes!).
on jan 12, danika saw her first snow....yes, we took pictures and blogged about it!
she is a very happy baby....and gives smiles to anyone that will pay attention to her!

on jan 27, she was sitting in her grandmas lap, and actually put her hands out and reached for me! she is still a mamas girl....happiest with me, on my lap, in my arms, sleeping next to me...she still watches me like a hawk and hates it when i leave the room, even just for a second.
she blows raspberries all the time, and still is totally tickelish! here little giggle is infectious!
and i SWEAR, on jan 27, while we were driving home from matts parents house, and she was screaming in the back seat....she said "mamamama"..... she hasnt said it since...

she is still strickly breastfed. she eats about every 2-4 hours during the day still, one side at a time about 6-8 minutes....at night she usually goes to sleep at about 9ish....and will wake for a feed between 3-5am (around christmas time she was sleeping through and skipping that feed, that lasted only a week or two....) and then go back to sleep till 7am. 2 hours after she wakes in the morning, shes ready for a nap...i still havnt figured out a "pattern" for naps during the day....i guess i need to pay more close attenention. she naps a few times a day anywhere from 30min-3 hours depending on what is going on around her. if i am sleeping because of work, she sleeps with me GREAT all day long!! lol...
we started "solids" on feb 6...oatmeal with bananas mixed with breastmilk...i forgot how hard and frustrating it is to start to feed a baby! its a MESS! she does something with her tongue and holds it up in the roof of her mouth and tries to slurp the oatmeal, then the spoon ends up under her tongue and then she thrusts her toungue out and the spoon of oatmeal gets spit back out to you! uggg...then you try to catch as much as possible, just to spoon it back in and try again. weve been feeding her twice a day for the past week, and just this weekend i felt we had made progress, she actually opened her mouth for the spoon and i was able to actually spoon oatmeal in and she swallowed it!

danika loves looking in the mirror and seeing the pretty baby smiling at her! she will smile, talk and start kicking her feet when she sees the pretty baby! she also loves my wall paper picture i have on my computer, its a picture of her and finley last month....SHE LOVES THAT PICTURE! she gets all bright eyed and smiles huge when she sees it!

she still loves finley and finley loves her! finley actually tried to give her her bottle a few weeks ago! it was too cute! she mothers her all the time.
she hates poopy diapers!
she rolls her tongue in her mouth funny, so it ends up sideways....its funny to watch her play with her tongue!

danika rolled from her front (tummy time) to her back and i witnessed it on feb.2....she doesnt get a lot of practice doing this because she is always being held....i am trying to put her down more...
she also found her toes on feb 2!
she also had her first sickness....an ear infection that she is currently on antibiotics for. when she went for her 6 month well baby, dr said her L ear looked a little red and inflamed...poor baby, and finley is just finishing up her antibiotics for her pneumonia and double ear infection!
danika is starting to get more hair, although i know in the pictures you cant tell....just trust me on this one!
she reaches for everything! and then holds it up and looks at it...then puts it (what ever "it" is) in her mouth!!!

also....matts dad just had a double lung transplant last night...please keep him in your prayers while he travels down the recovery road!
