when we were in holland, we became super close with another military family, the gilberts. they had 4 girls, all of us around the same age.
they got orders to scott AFB (here where i still am)...and soon after, so did we! we basically grew up with this family...and then they moved to joplin, MO.
we still keep in touch with christmas cards and FB....
this summer, one of the daugters (and her family! we are all grown up now and have families of our own! how weird!) and mr and mrs gilbert were coming to st louis for a long weekend to "vacation".....i just HAD to see them! i hadnt seen them in many many way too long years.
so one evening, me and my crew went to the camp site they were staying at and surprised mr and mrs gilbert...and hung out for a few hours.
it was FANTASTIC@
to see this family, that has been a party of my life for 34 years! (yes, we have know each other since my sister was born!)
these pictures mean the world to me! our kids...me, mrs gilbert, and teresa, mrs gilbert holding danika...and me and teresa with our children!
splash pad fun
fathers day 2012.... matt was in the middle of being out of town for 2 weeks for work, but was able to come home for the weekend for fathers day! yipee!
we started the day by going to church!
daddy and his girls!
after church we went to his parents house with the rest of the family and went swimming!
finley had a BLAST!
here she is about ready to do her
"BIG SPLASH!"
danika was napping, so she didnt swim,
but finley swam enough and made enough "big splashes" for the both of them!

last year i made a stepping stone with finley for matt for fathers day,
so i decided to do one with danika too...
i think it turned out much better than finleys! (i knew better what i was doing this time!)
you can actually see danikas hand and foot print!
