finley is....

THREE!!!!!!!!

i cant believe my "baby", sweet finley grace, is three!

my mom and grandma used to threaten to put a brick on my sister and i's head when we were growing up to slow/stop us from growing...and i always thought that was funny....but now i am threatening my 2 girls with that same brick on their heads!

 

finley turned 3 on sunday jan 20.

on friday, me and the girls went to applebees to meet my bff for finleys birthday lunch! we had fun...the sweet waitresses even brought finley a birthday sundae and they all sang their happy birthday song to her!

 

we had her party on her actual birthday.

we just had family over....nothing over the top. i mean what more do you need than cake, ice cream, presents, and fun?!?!?

 and we definitely had all 4!

i made the cake...and i am no high paid decorator (as you can tell!). the cake was a double decker...chocolate on top and vanilla on bottom...but it was vanilla surprise because i divided the cake batter up and colored it orange, green, and purple (but looked more like puke)....and had some chocolate left over that went on the bottom too....so it was fun to see what color cake you got! i just used vanilla icing (colored light orange)...and then sprinkled the heck out of the top of the cake! i placed a paper #3 on it while i did that...so when i pulled up the paper, a "3" was cut out of the sprinkles (thank you pinterest!) i think it turned out pretty cute!

we also had a dora theme going on....balloons, plates, cups, napkins....
i made treats for finley to take to school on tuesday when they celebrated her birthday...i just bought oreos (vanilla and chocolate) and almond bark (vanilla and chocolate) and dipped the vanilla oreos half way in the the chocolate almond bark vice versa, then dipped them in sprinkles! (another thanks to pinterest!).i thought they turned out ubber cute too! i bagged them up and put one chocolate and one vanilla cookie in for each kiddo in her class....simple! done!

 

finley had fun opening her presents....and asked for "more presents" to open! she HAD to wear her princess dress....and LOVES her new sparkle squeaky shoes and camera! danika even got to open a little something!

 

here is her super cute birthday had....she refused to wear....maybe she will wear it on danikas birthday like last year!?!?!?

she got the biggest kick out of blowing out the candle! she kept blowing and blowing and it wouldnt go out....that was the funniest thing ever (in her mind!). finally daddy helped her blow it out!

and on her birthday minute (1136 pm) she was sound asleep, peaceful and quiet...unlike 3 years ago at that minute!

finley can count to 20...and backwards from 10!
she knows all colors, shapes (and road sign shapes), letters, numbers
she loves to wear dresses and twirl
she loves to sing and read
she loves to jump and be tickled and go to "jumping" (parent and tot gymnastics)
she loves bubbles
she still is way attached to "puppy" and he is always with her
she still sucks her thumb when she is tired
she loves dora, diego, and mickey mouse club and the "princess movie" (Anastasia)
she LOVES her sister
she loves broccoli, yogurt, yellow cheese (shredded cheddar), white cheese (string cheese), milk, apples (but doesnt want you to cut it up), strawberries ( just cut the "grass" off the top), french fries, mandarin oranges
she doesnt like her hair brushed
she has never liked carrots
she is in size 6 diaper and has no desire to use the potty
she is in 2T pants, 2T or 3T shirts
size 6 or 7 shoe
i will have to fill in height and weight after her pedi appointment in 2 weeks...
she is such a joy

we went to sesame street live (again, like last year) today!
it was so much fun to watch the girls in awe...
they had fun playing on the railings while waiting to get in...
before the show they have a "play zone" set up where characters come out and dance and you can take pictures on the set of different scenes of sesame street...
danika wasnt too sure of the dancing big monsters, she clung tight....
and finley was ok...if she was safe on daddys shoulders!

 

we got some pictures on some of the "sets"...
though they still werent really eager to stand next to this (wooden) monster and smile for the camera!

 

then the show started....
we were in the second row!
great seats!

 

i think the girls really enjoyed the (first half) of the show...
at one time matt had both girls in his lap...isnt that just the sweetest picture!??!?!

 

then intermission came...
and out came the vendors.
matt got the girls each a mylar elmo balloon that cost 10$ a piece....
well...finley wanted to HOLD her balloon,
and we tied it to the snack cup so our 10$ balloon wouldnt accidentally float up into the rafters...
and thats when it all started.
finley threw a FIT!
 she didnt want it tied to the snack cup!
 and she let the entire down town st louis area know it!
 kicking and screaming on the floor...
her and matt spent the ENTIRE second half of the show off to the side and in the "wings" of the auditorium!
 and it didnt stop there...she kicked and screamed all the way out of that place, to the car (matt basically had to carry her like a sack of limp squirmy back arching potatoes!), in the car, and 20 minutes of our drive home!
then she looked at me, smiled, and said "i stopped crying mama!"...and that was that! REALLY??!?!!?!?
over an hour of an all out red faced hyperventilating fit,
 and then done!
and boy was this mama happy it was done and i had my sweet finley grace back!
fit aside,
we had a great time....
and now we have a 3 year old amongst us!
