SPT

i think lelly felt bad for us!!.... she made the SPT challenge fairly simple this month!
wheew!
the weekly "subject" is easy...but the real challenge (to some people....hello....barbie...!) is that she wants us to make a commitment to complete all four challenges for this month!
GAME ON!!!!
heres what she writes:

"going back into the vault this month, to a spt challenge i really loved! hope you will join along!!

tuesday, may 5 something old
tuesday, may 12 something new
tuesday, may 19 something borrowed
tuesday, may 26 something blue

take it literally, take it figuratively, but by all means, make a commitment to complete all four challenges for the month of may! "

so i have a lot of ideas for today...
but my morning so far goes a little like this: i worked last night (so been up since 5PM yesterday) and when i got into my car to drive home, my car wouldnt move out of "park". and let me tell you, i pulled and pushed with all my might! the little shifter would not budge! so i got my owners manual out of the glove box (who put it there!?!?!) and it told me how to get around the "you-have-to-push-the-brake-in-to-get-the-car-out-of-park"...turn the car off, put the emergency brake on, take the key out, put the key back in, turn the key to the "off "position, push the brake, put the car into neutral, turn the car on, take the emergency brake off, drive home...or to your nearest auto zone and try to get the car fix (or at least figured out) because this is hunky husbands finals week, and he has two finals today...so the LAST thing he will want to do is work on my car! i get to auto zone and the lady comes out...we check, i have NO brake lights (great, i did not just drive 20 miles on the through the city and then on the highway with no brake lights!). i have tail lights, so the bulbs arent blown. maybe its a fuse....she checks the brake light fuse.....nope, its still good....so after some brain storming between her and the other auto zone worker....they determine its my stop light switch...ummmm ok.
so that, two wiper blades, and 33.40$ later, i am sent on my merry way home with my parts....hoping hunky hubby can fix this quickly so i can go to bed and he can go take his two finals.
wishful thinking......
i get home at 830, hes sleeping, i wake him and tell him i have a problem...hes a grump not exactly happy...but gets up to check out my car...i fill him in on what its doing, or not doing...and what the auto zone lady did...
he checks the fuse (that she did) it looks fine....so he moves on to install my new stop light switch...about 1 1/2 hours later and a few choice words its in!...
turn the car on, try pushing the brake and then shifting into drive.....NO DICE! it didnt work....
he studies the "instructions" (this is the first time hes looked at them!)...
"i think i did it right"....
i am starting to think about what mechanic i am going to take my car to....
he decides to check the fuse one last time, pulls it out, and this time, takes it out of the little tweezer thingy to ACTUALLY inspect it....
ITS BLOWN!
the auto zone lady checked the W.R.O.N.G fuse and hunky hubby just didnt take it out of the tweezers the first time so he could see that it was blown!
we have no fuses, so matt runs to the store and buys fuses, pops it it and my car has brake lights again! shifts out of park with ease!
a 5 minute job that now has turned into a TWO hOUR fiasco!
so, its 1030, i clean up all the tools, matt gets ready and leaves for school.
its now 1050....i was going to do the spt tonight....but decided to bust it out now....but now, after that story (which has nothing to do with this weeks challenge!) its 1130....
here i go....
when my sister and i were little, we spent the summer time away from home. we split the summers between visiting my dad and step mom in biloxi, and both sets of grandparents in michigan.
one year (maybe 1985ish?), my grandma skinner (my moms mom) let my sister and i each have a little round throw pillow...one had a dog face, the other an elephant face on it. my grandma told us that they belonged to my mom and my aunt when they were little kids...well.....i just might still have that pillow!......

and i just might still sleep with it....20+year later!

my doggie pillow has been on many trips with me...to mississippi, michigan, colorado, florida, texas.....i will stop there, i am getting a little embarrassed...you get the idea!

he also has lost his squiggly eyes, and his replacement eyes that my step mom sewed onto him...i gave up on the eyes, he will be eyeless for the rest of his time!

above is a picture of me this morning getting ready for bed. snuggling in to sleep with my doggie pillow.

please dont think i am some kind of freak....i can sleep without it, but just like some of you with your body pillows you would rather not sleep without, i just sleep better hugging him.

and if i have had him for 20+ years, and he was around when my mom and aunt were little (they may be in their upper 50's now)....hes pretty darn old!

its 1155....good night!

did i tell you that ive been up since 5PM yesterday?!!??!

That's funny - I never knew the story behind the pillows - I think I still have mine (somewhere) will have to find now that I know the history.. Although I don't know if your dog is going to make the passing down to your kids.. he looks kind of worn! Or maybe you won't want to part with him to pass him down (ha).

Good luck on Finals Matt

PS I did my SPT and have the next three in draft - so there!! HA

Oh you poor thing, I hope you got some rest today.

All that trouble and it was just the fuse...how maddening!

Love the precious pillow...and NO, I DON'T THINK YOU'RE WEIRD!

(Glad to hear your car problems are over.)

My OCD side is hoping that you wash that poor pillow every now and then haha. Hope you get to catch up on your sleep!

I still have a hippo that my Aunt made for me. It lost its squiggly eyes too.
Glad you got your car fixed.
