birthday

yesterday was my birthday...
i wasnt feeling very birthday-ish....
danika is a love...she is a sweet baby....but she is also in love with only sleeping if she is laying on my chest...so i cant really get anything done....and she eats about every 2-3 hours.....so this mama is tired....but
i am trying to remember that she is a newborn that is supposed to love sleeping on her mama and eat every 2 hours, right!?!?
anyway... i had told matt i just wanted us to go DO SOMETHING! i am getting kind of tired of looking at these same 4 living room walls...
so yesterday morning, matt made us cheesy scrambled eggs for breakfast (yumm!)...then we all 4 hung out for a bit in our pjs...then we layed finley down for her nap, matt went for a run...and danika and i took a (WELL NEEDED) 3 HOUR NAP! hello birthday bliss!;-)
when finley woke up, we ate some lunch and headed down to the st. louis city garden .
this place is pretty awesome! it is basically a green space in the middle of the city in st. louis. lots of trees, grass, flowers...and then there are art sculptures, water falls, water fountains, and pools of water.
it was 103 degrees yesterday (a new record!)... i took a bathing suit for finley to play in the fountains, but when we got down there, i decided to just kick off our shoes and run around like that! finley had so much fun! and i think us "big kids" did too! just watching finley smile, laugh, and get sprayed in the face by the fountain made my day! (she laughed about getting sprayed in the face by the way....and then did it again)...
and sweet danika just slept in her seat the entire time! ( i wish she slept that good at 3AM!)..
i will let the pictures speak for themselves....can you just see the oodles of fun we had?!?!?!

at first finley wouldnt go out into the fountains without me....but she quickly decided this was fun...and she didnt necessarily need me to hold her hand (such a big girl!). we even played in one of the "pools" they have....that was kind of deep, well deep enough, that when finley fell, the water was over her head! the first time she fell and went under, the worker lady and i each about had a heart attack...i grabbed finley and puller her up and out of the water, and she was LAUGHING! so i told the worker lady..."well, as long as she comes up laughing, i guess we are ok!" then i spent some time keeping finley up and out of the water! she kept trying to "fall"...my little dare devil!

by the wetness of her dress....it clear that she loves running in the water!

daddy had fun in the water too! he was picking finley up and swinging her through the fountains...which according to a 19month old, is a dang fun time!

we played at the city garden for a little over an hour, then headed home because it was nap time for finley and feeding time for danika.
matt then made us the most delicious dinner....he grilled steaks, asparagus, and made twice baked potatoes! IT WAS SO GOOD! i had seconds....of everything! hey...it was my birthday!

i ended up having a great birthday...and even felt birthday-ish.....
