1 day of school

today was the first day of preschool!
its finleys 3rd year and danikas 1st year.
tuesday was orientation, and that went pretty smoothly. we visited each girls classroom and met their teachers, the girls each played in the classrooms....i know they didnt know what was about to happen...
i have been talking to them, and trying to get them used to the idea of going to school, and their teachers names, blah blah blah...
finley is a little mixed up though...
she is way excited that "danika is going to school with me? in my class with ms kristie and ms sara!!". i cant get her to realize that danika IS going to school with her, but will not be in her class....and her new teachers are ms beverly and ms marie (ms kristie and ms sara were her teachers last year)...
so today....i took them (matt had a meeting he had to go to)...i tried to prep myself as much as i tried to prep the girls! i was very sure i was going to have all 3 of us in tears when it was all said and done!
~i packed their backpacks (each of them needed a change of clothes, extra diapers/ pull ups, blanket for nap, beloved stuffed puppy and bear for nap, empty sippy cups and lunch which matt put together last night)...my sister joked that its a good thing i was there to carry their "luggage"!
~i picked out their outfits and tried to dress them as cute and functional for messy play as possible!
~i had them eat their breakfasts...had finley go "tinkle"....
~and then took a ton of pictures!
~took a deep breath and packed us all up for the short 10 minute drive to school...

 

then i remembered that i forgot to take a picture of me with each girl
so when we got to school....
i did just that...
then we all walked in,
hand in hand...
it really was a sweet moment, me holding finleys hand and then danika and finley holding hands (and me lugging their "luggage with my 'free' left hand!)

 

we went to danikas class first
after i put everything in the correct bin (diapers, sippy cup, blanket/bear, and hand backpack and lunch bag to teacher)
it was time to hand over my baby to this lady i just met two days before and had only talked to briefly...
i picker her up, kissed her, asked her if she wanted to go into her class,
she said "no"...
then i handed her off to the waiting arms of ms angela...
she looked like a deer in head lights!:-(
she didnt cry (at that moment)...but she just had no clue what was going on.
i promptly walked away from the doorway.

finley wanted to go see ms sara and ms kristie (her teachers from last year, and they are in the same hallway as danikas class)...
so we walked down there,
then she wanted her lunch box....and went to go put it in her cubby (from last year) and told me she was going into her class with ms kristie and ms sara!
oh my...is she not understanding what is going on!
so ms kristie talked to her and tried to explain to her that she had a new class this year, but finley didnt want to hear any of that! she was INSISTing that she was putting her lunch in her cubby and going in!
i finally had to take her hand and lead her away (i peeked into danikas room as we walked by and didnt see her, but thought i might had heard her cyring, but there were lots of crying kids, so im not sure if it was her or not).
as we walked towards finleys class, she started getting nervous..
"i dont want to go to school". "i want to stay with you." "i want you to come to my class with me."
i reassured her that i was going to walk her to class, that i would help her hang her book bag up, and that daddy would come get her a little later.
nope.
she didnt care.
"i want  YOU mama!"
ugg.....
dont make this harder on me kid.
so we went through it all (hung the backpack, put the lunch box on the shelf, put the sippy in the bin, put puppy and her blanket in her cubby) and then it was time for her to go in...
she looked up at me and said "hold you mama!"
so i picked her up, kissed her and hugged her...
and she wrapped her arms and legs around me and buried her face into my shoulder...
and would have stayed in that position all day!
i finally told ms beverly that she was going to have to take her from me..
and then,
thats when i handed my precious first born over to a lady i just met 2 days ago....
finley unclamped from me, and clamped onto ms beverly,
legs and arms around her and head buried in her shoulder....
and i walked away.
as i walked back by danikas class, she was standing there, still looking very sad.
ms tori was wiping her eyes and nose...so she had been crying (although, again, i didnt actually witness it).
so, theres werent 3 girls crying (i didnt actually SEE them cry) and i held it together...
kind of a first day success if you ask me!
matt picked them up.
he said they were "fine"
geee...thanks for that GrEat update babe!
but i did have 3 teachers i know tell me that they saw the girls throughout the day and that they were having fun and playing so that makes me feel good!
